MARGAO: In a proud moment for Goa, Rachol-based author Ives Tavares has been chosen among the top 100 record-holders for the International Records Festival 2022, for his work on the world’s biggest Konkani Biblical Concordance, titled ‘Povitr Pustokantlem Bhanddar’.
This festival, hosted by the India Book of Records, is considered one of the biggest-ever events for record-holders, at the international level, with over 2,500 people expected to attend it, from across Nepal, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia, Great Britain, the United States of America and India. The event will be held in New Delhi, at Siri Fort Auditorium, on September 11.
“It took nearly 8 years and 4 months to get the 23,640-page printed book published, in 256 volumes,” said Tavares. A biblical concordance is a reference tool or a sort of index that alphabetically lists Biblical words along with their Biblical references.
The Roman Konkani biblical concordance (second edition) incorporates 36, 98,550 words with an estimated 2,03,71,309 characters. It measures 5.5 feet in height and weighs around 180 kg.
It has broken six records, which include India’s World Record (the longest record), World Records India (world’s biggest book), India’s Book of Records (thickest book), Asia Book of Records (thickest book), Champions Book of World Record (longest book) and the Universal Record Forum.
“The event will provide you with a great opportunity to interact with our international delegation, apart from showcasing your talent and innovation,” said the letter inviting Tavares to the grand event, as one of the finalists chosen among thousands of other record-holders.
“Yes, I worked hard to achieve this milestone. Getting a place among the top 100 record holders, and that too at the international level is a great moment. It is a proud moment for Goa and Goans in general,” Tavares told Herald.
