VASCO: F L Gomes road next to Vasco police station, a ‘No Parking’ stretch is slowly turning into a parking space for the heavy trucks. Authorities blame each other for not enforcing of strict rule of no parking at F L Gomes road.
Wasim Khan, a local, said, “We see big trucks parked on the F L Gomes road stretch which is a no parking area. This is the mockery of the sign board.”
Rockey, a youth, said that on both sides of the road heavy vehicles are seen parked. “So, sometimes I think whether the road is meant for parking or commotion?” he wondered.
When contacted, MMC Chairperson Nandadeep Raut said that it is the duty of the traffic police to enforce the law and challan those who violate the law. “If heavy vehicles are seen parked on ‘No Parking’ area then fines need to be imposed by traffic police,” Raut said.
However, Vasco Traffic Police Inspector Suraj Samant said that traffic police are imposing fines on those who are parking in ‘No Parking’ area.
“The traffic cell has also sent letters to the authorities including the municipality to make provision for parking space for heavy vehicles. Presently due to lack of parking space in the town, heavy vehicles are seen parked wherever truckers find place. We are enforcing the law properly,” Samant emphasised.
