PERNEM: Avni Anil Gad was elected unopposed as the new sarpanch of Casarvarnem village panchayat.
On Monday, a meeting was conveyed in the panchayat office for the election of the new sarpanch and since Avni Gad was the only panch to file her nomination for the post, the presiding officer Bhika Thakur declared her elected unopposed.
The post was laying vacant after the then sarpanch Navnath Naik tendered his resignation on October 10.
Panch member Sakshi Naik had proposed name of Avni Anil Gad for the post of Sarpanch and was seconded by panch Sonam Parab.
Panchayat Secretary Amar Kanolkar assisted the Presiding officer Bhika Naik in completing the election process.
