PANJIM: In the wake of three coronavirus positive cases in the state, North Goa MP and Union Minister of State for AYUSH (I/C) & MOS Defence .Shripad Naik has approved an amount of Rs 1 crore on Thursday under the MPLAD Fund for the purchase of infra-red thermometers, thermal scanners, test kits, ventilators and other items required for the treatment of coronavirus.

As per the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Union Minister Shripad Naik, on Thursday, handed over a letter of approval to the North Goa collector for the purchase of essential medical machineries and other necessary required items by  the state government. Due to the large number of foreign & local tourists staying & traveling in the state, checking of suspected patient’s samples are sent to the laboratory in Pune.

As the state is experiencing a shortage of equipment needed to inspect and test suspects in the state, MP Naik has decided to install the necessary items and equipment in Goa itself. Among these, it is proposed to supply infra-red thermometers, thermal imaging scanners, CORONA test kits, ICU ventilators and other necessities. Besides, Minister Naik has also said he will raise more funds if needed.

MP Naik has asked, in a sanction letter,  the North Goa Collector to hand over the instruments to District Health Department directly. It has also been ordered to study the proposal and seek financial and administrative approval within 10 days.
