Babar Azam will not take part in the remainder of the Big Bash League finals after the Sydney Sixers confirmed that the Pakistan batter has been recalled for a national team camp. The announcement was made on Thursday, just over a day before the Sixers’ Challenger final against Hobart Hurricanes at the SCG. The winner of that match will face Perth Scorchers in the BBL final on Sunday.
Babar was originally expected to be available for the full tournament and had not been selected for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka earlier this month. However, with preparations beginning for upcoming international fixtures, Pakistan Cricket Board officials requested his return.
In a statement, the Sixers said Babar would depart Australia immediately and would not be considered for selection for the rest of the BBL finals series.
