PANJIM: Opposition Leader Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar filed a rejoinder in the anticipatory bail application before the North Goa District and Sessions Court on Tuesday in the disproportionate assets case that is being investigated by Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB). Court had granted him interim relief from the arrest till the final disposal of the plea. The matter will next be heard on April 17.
Kavlekar had filed an application for anticipatory bail after he was summoned by ACB in the disproportionate assets case.
Kavlekar was booked by ACB on September 15, 2017 for holding disproportionate assets. He was also facing a preliminary inquiry in a disproportionate assets case since 2013 but the fresh FIR has been merged with that.
Kavlekar is also being probed by Crime Branch for his alleged nexus in the illegal matka trade in the State.
