PANJIM: Quepem MLA Chandrakant Babu Kavalekar, who served as chairman of the Goa Industrial Development Corporation and who was scheduled to appear before the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Friday will do so next week, officials said.
Kavalekar who served as chairman from March 2, 2005 to April 7, 2005, and from July 19, 2005 to May 13, 2007 and further from June 28, 2007 to February 10, 2012 has been in the spotlight for his role in lots of dubious deals regarding GIDC plots.
He apparently sought more time to appear before the ACB as part of the investigation into some land purchases in Kerala which are seen as being disproportionate assets.
ACB SP Bosco George confirmed that he had sought time given that the Assembly session was over and some out of station holiday time was due.
ACB officials also said that a team of officials would be sent to Kerala to get details about Kavalekar’s various transactions.
ACB is also investigating issues with the IT department, pertaining to allotments as well as certain irregularities in the PWD.
