PANJIM: Fresh from his panel’s victory at Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), MLA Atanasio alias Babush Monserrate issued a challenge to BJP’s opposition regarding Tiswadi Taluka.

He expressed confidence that BJP would win all five seats and challenged any candidate from any Opposition party to try and win even one seat in Tiswadi.

The MLA said he already has three MLAs in Tiswadi, including himself, (other two being Taleigao MLA Jennifer Monserrate and St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes) and that BJP has two other MLAs in the remaining two constituencies, namely Pandurang Madkaikar from Cumbarjua and Francisco Silveira from St Andre.

He was asked who will be the next Mayor at CCP.  At first he said that the party (BJP) will decide, when pressed further, the MLA said anyone from 24 candidates will be the Mayor. When pointed out that BJP has 25 candidates and if he deliberately left out one candidate’s name, Babush said, “Those people who had been given a chance earlier will not be repeated again. Now, new people should be given a chance.”
