Back-to-Back Accidents at Mapusa’s Busy Intersection Amplify Traffic Woes

In a string of unfortunate events, two separate accidents occurred within moments of each other at the same spot near the Mapusa bus stand, resulting in major traffic disruptions. The intersection in question has become a hotspot for delays, with locals attributing the accidents to confusion caused by a traffic signal. Commuters’ frustration mounted as the traffic control unit reportedly took over an hour to reach the scene, exacerbating the chaos.

The initial collision involved a dispute between a Kadamba bus driver and a car driver. “I was following the right path, and the car suddenly reversed into the bus,” claimed the Kadamba bus driver. Contrarily, the car driver contested, denying any reverse manoeuvre: “The bus came and collided with me; it’s not my fault,” asserting innocence in the incident.

In a subsequent collision between a car and a tempo truck attempting a turn together, the tempo driver explained halting due to signal confusion. However, occupants of the car, manoeuvring the same turn from the left, attributed the collision to abruptly parked bikes, contesting their version of events.

Mapusa, renowned for its numerous educational institutions, has seen a surge in demands from locals for a permanent deployment of traffic police to effectively manage the bustling area, preventing further mishaps and ensuring smoother traffic flow.
