PONDA: It has been almost five years now that the Pondaites are suffering due to bad roads condition in town and the commuters are yet to experience “Achhe Din”, which has become a distant dream for them.
At some places the roads have caved in and other lying in worst condition. At some places, the covers of sewerage manholes and the road level is uneven i.e either they are up or down, uneven with the road level, making it difficult for the commuters to drive/rider smoothly.
The roads in the panchayat and town areas are dug for laying of the sewerage pipelines and other developmental works.
The Pondaites requested the government not only to focus on issuing fines for the citizens but also to concentrate on repairing the roads so that they could get some health relief. The Traffic Police while issuing the fines often tell the bike riders that it’s not their department’s job to repair the roads.
A Ponda local Vishal Fadte said that it has been five years now the sewerage pipelines and other works are progressing in the town. The roads are dug and the government has already declared that unless the sewerage and other development works are completed the roads will not be hot-mixed.
“Recently, PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar had assured to complete the sewerage work by May and restore all the roads in the town with hot-mix carpeting. But sadly, the sewerage work is still progressing in the rainy season,” he added.
He said in the past many bike riders had got injured after falling into the potholes, rough and unlevelled roads. These condition is prevailing leading to ‘bone breaking’ experience. The chamber covers and road level are uneven.
Fadte said that the road at Upper Bazaar is in worst condition and bumpy.
“If the roads are not hot-mixed then the government atleast repair them. It has been five years now we are suffering and waiting for ‘Acche Din’ move to all the main and internal roads in the town. Even the bypass roads on the national highway are seen with potholes at Bethora,” claimed Fadte.
