MARGAO: Bahubali 2 is not only rocking the box-Office, it’s the wave of cine-goers, which is indirectly creating ripples in various parts of the country. And its tremor is felt here too.
The tremendously popular film has been drawing people in large numbers and the parking scene in areas around Vishant Theatre area has gone for a toss. Vehicles are parked even in the bylanes and lanes. People living in apartments near the theatre are finding it difficult to negotiate with the huge number of vehicles. With Fashion at Big Bazaar located in the Vishant Theatre complex, the crowd has gone out of hand. There are no traffic regulators to channelise the crowd.
After several complaints filed with the Chief Officer of the MMC and to District Administration a notification of ‘no parking’ and ‘no stopping’ was issued in September 2016. However, even after the installation of boards, no action has been taken against violators.
A resident of the area Joseph Alphonso said, “Inconvenience caused to shop owners and residents of Silver Towers Apartment is untold. This despite ‘No Parking’ notified in Sept 2016. Only ‘No Parking’ and ‘No stopping’ boards have been put up, but no implementation has happened,” said Alphonso.
“Come any time, especially during this weekend to see the chaos at Vishant theatre because of the release of Bahubali 2,” he said.
A resident from an apartment besides the theatre said “I called up the police and complained of mindless parking. However, the cops instead said, “lok sudarnewale nahi, madam,” the resident told.
She also said that the two-time local councillor Avinash Shirodker has been sleeping on the demands of the people for reasons best known to him.
