PANJIM: United Bahujan Samaj (UBS) and its members have
demanded that Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) break its alliance with the
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and contest the 2017 elections on its own
strength.
“If MGP doesn’t break ties with the BJP, no person from the
Bahujan Samaj community will vote and support the MGP in the upcoming
elections,” UBS spokesperson Santosh Mandrekar said. He added that the BJP
government has failed to deliver on its manifesto promises and the people of
Goa have given up hopes and are ready to vote the BJP out of power.
Mandrekar also suggested that the Election Commission
implement a new voting system, as there is tampering of EVMs taking place. He
suggested a new system called EVM with ballot paper.
He said UBS will be present a memorandum to the Chief
Minster, Election Commission of India, Governor of Goa and Chief Secretary
demanding that this new system for conducting accurate elections be adopted.
