MARGAO: Additional Sessions Judge Edgar Fernandes granted bail to three persons arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Francisco Carvalho from Manora-Raia, whose body was found on the base of a pillar of the Borim Bridge, at Vanxem-Loutolim on September 6, morning.
Bail was granted to 34-year-old Vilton Coutinho, 21-year-old Royan Alvares and 26-year-old Valencio Vas as their defence lawyers argued that they were not involved in the murder which was committed after they had left the bar where they shared drinks with the main accused in the case namely 22-year-old Melburn Coutinho.
It may be recalled that on September 5 night, some people were having a drink at Charlota Bar belonging to Joao Paul Fernandes at Manora Raia when Francisco arrived and began shouting for drinks which irritated the people sitting there.
There was a scuffle between the guests and Francisco was stabbed with a bottle and then he was taken on a two wheeler to Loutolim and after murdering him his body was thrown on the base of the bridge.
While Advocate Amarnath Desai appeared for Vilton Coutinho and Royan Alvares, Advocate Prashant Borkar appeared for Valencio Vas.
The judge dismissed the bail application moved by Melburn Coutinho while 21-year-old Orphion Colaco withdrew his bail application and 24-year-old Joel Graca did not file for bail.
