VASCO: The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) on Tuesday rejected the bail of a minor driver involved in rash and negligent driving and causing death of a 50-year-old woman at Chicalim last week.
The minor, who is presently remanded in Apna Ghar, Merces since November 25, was produced before the JJB and after hearing him, his bail was rejected, informed the police.
The Vasco Police, who are conducting investigations, have now written to the Mapusa Assistant Director of Transport (ADT) to cancel the registration of the vehicle involved in the accident at Chicalim for a period of one-year and not to issue driving licence to the minor driver till he attained the age of 25 years.
The police have also asked the Mapusa RTO to initiate action as per Section 199-A Sub-Section 4 and 5 of Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act against the owner of the Maruti Ertiga vehicle, which will result in cancellation of the registration of the vehicle involved in the accident for a period of 12 months.
Besides being booked for rash and negligent driving, the police have also registered a case against the minor driver under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of IPC.
