PANJIM: Demanding an end to the ongoing ‘human rights violations’ by the State, Bailancho Saad on Sunday strongly condemned the hounding of the complainant from Kothambi Bicholim, by State authorities for two years under a Disastrous Disaster Management.
Addressing media persons on Sunday, Dr Sabina Martins listed out details of how the complaint has been harassed and unlawfully targeted over the last two years.
Martins called for public support in the campaign to get freedom and justice for the Bicholim girl.
“The modus operandi of character assassination, breaking houses of people by allowing mob violence, then evicting them without belongings, saying structure is dilapidated, then confining, keeping in captivity under the garb of Disaster Management Act is insidious and can be used against citizens, who raise their voices. It can be used as a sinister ploy to usurp houses,” said Martins.
Martins said, “At the last meeting with Collector I Momu Hages, they received an assurance that the person will be released from confinement immediately and that she would look into the concerns raised.”
