Baina beach gets police outpost

VASCO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday inaugurated the renovated Baina Police Outpost and also party’s official campaigning in South Goa Parliamentary constituency for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

During the Assembly session in July last year, the Chief Minister had assured Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar that the Baina Police Outpost will be renovated after temporarily relocating it near Ravindra Bhavan at Baina.

Though the occasion was to inaugurate the police outpost, it was converted into a public meeting where the Chief Minister declared BJP’s campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, he expressed confident that the BJP would wrest the South Goa Parliamentary seat with a margin of 60,000 votes. BJP candidate had lost the 2019 polls by about 9,000 votes.

BJP State president and Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar, Former South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, former Fatorda MLA Damu Naik, Mormugao Chairperson Girish Borker and others were present.

Sawant said, “Though inauguration of the Baina police outpost was obviously a function that I attended but the main reason to arrive here (Baina) is to connect with the voters of Mormugao constituency. I am happy to see such a large number of people attending the public meeting and I want to declare that party’s official campaigning for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections started from Mormugao constituency. Looking at the crowd I am confident that BJP candidate will win the South Goa seat by a margin of 60,000 votes.”

Sawant assured the gathering that the government will take up all the development works proposed by Sankalp Amonkar for the betterment of the constituency. 

Tanavade and Amonkar also spoke at the occasion.
