Baina youth abducted, assaulted

A youth from Baina was allegedly abducted and assaulted by two youth from Khariwado on Thursday morning.
According to reports, the victim was abducted from El-Mount Service Station by two youths on a motorcycle over some petty matter of parking, which broke out about three months ago. The argument broke out among the youth from Baina and Khariwado, which was later resolved by the police.
However, some youth from Khariwado allegedly abducted a youth from Baina and assaulted him. Vasco Police has registered a Non-Cognizable Offence against the accused from Khariwado. In the recent past, such incidents have become a regular phenomenon at Mangor and Khariwado. However, when such cases reach Vasco police station, police does act against the accused, but they have to be lenient towards the accused often due to political interference. The police staff, who were annoyed with constant interference by politicians, had expressed their anger before the media on Thursday and said whenever police acts against such notorious youth, they have been pressurized by the politicians.
Time and again, former Vasco MLA Rajendra Arlekar has blamed that law and order in Vasco is deteriorating and “goondagiri” is rising in Vasco with the blessing of some politicians.
