CUNCOLIM: Eleven cases of dengue patients have been registered at the Primary Health Centre Balli. However, Health Officer Dr Mamta Kakode said the situation is under control.
Sources said the details of the patients have been divulged to local MLA Clafacio Dias who visited the health centre on October 17.
Dr Kakode explained to Dias that the PHC staff are virtually on their toes to handle and bring the patients under control.
“We have started a sanitisation programme in different areas and have started fogging the suspected localities. We have also begun an awareness programme to explain to people how to prevent dengue,” Dr Kakode said.
Dias congratulated the PHC Balli for winning a State Award for being the cleanest health centre and appealed to the staff to keep up the good work and continue helping the patients.
The health officer said she brought to the notice of Dias the shortage of staff and submitted a list of requirements so that the PHC can function smoothly.
The MLA assured PHC Balli officials and locals that he will talk to the chief minister and health minister regarding the appointment of extra staff and appealed the PHC Balli staff to take remedies to control the dengue outbreak.
