Ban extension to retired govt employees, demands Oppn

PANJIM: Unlike his predecessor Manohar Parrikar, CM Laxmikant Parsekar on Tuesday refused to give concrete assurances on any issue raised by the Opposition, including an assurance of imposing a ban on granting extensions to retiring government servants.

“Just because I am the new CM, I won’t give any blanket assurances,” Parsekar told the House, when the Opposition demanded an assurance on putting a ban on granting any extensions to retiring government servants in future.
The Chief Minister was replying to a question about extensions being granted to government servants since March 2014 till date. According to information, six officers have been granted extensions, on superannuation. The Opposition benches had earlier alerted the Speaker about misinformation and lack of information from government departments. Congress MLA and former CM Digambar Kamat informed the House about failure of the personnel department to give information on the number of government employees who had retired and extensions granted to such officers from March 2014 till date.
