In the ongoing Banastarim accident case, the bail plea arguments for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa President Adv. Amit Palekar has concluded at the Additional District and Sessions Court in Panjim, located in Ponda. The court has opted to reserve its decision until Monday, allowing Amit Palekar to maintain interim bail.
A significant twist in the case occurred when the Crime Branch arrested Adv. Amit Palekar, alleging his involvement in evidence tampering related to the fatal Mercedes accident in Banastarim on August 6. Specifically, he was accused of presenting a ‘dummy driver’ to the Mardol Police Station shortly after the accident, purportedly to protect the Sawardekar couple.
Subsequently, Adv. Palekar was granted conditional bail by the Additional District and Sessions Court in Panjim, Ponda. The court approved interim bail, requiring a bond of Rs 50,000 and a surety of a similar amount for his release.
This development adds another layer of complexity to the Banastarim accident case, which continues to be a matter of significant public interest, with legal proceedings taking centre stage. Stay tuned for further updates on Monday regarding the court’s decision.
