Panjim: August 03rd, nearly 3 people were killed in the horrific accident at Banastarim, Now nearly seven weeks after a drunk driving incident that resulted in the deaths of three individuals and severe injuries to three others, the Goa State Directorate of Transport has suspended the driving license of Shripad alias Paresh Sawardekar for a period of three months. Sawardekar was driving a Mercedes-Benz SUV under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred in Banastarim.
As per media reports, Transport Director has said that the department has addressed this matter through the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Panaji, where Sawardekar was summoned for hearings related to his involvement in the Banastarim accident, earlier also the RTO had previously issued two show-cause notices to Sawardekar, requesting his attendance at hearings to provide his perspective. However, he failed to appear at the hearings while in police custody and even after being released on bail, leading to further action by transport officials.
