PONDA: In an interesting turn of events, Damodar Bandekar, who had resigned last month, was re-elected unopposed as sarpanch of Kirlapal Village Panchayat.
After exposing the scam related to issuance of bogus house tax receipts by panchayat personnel, Bandekar had resigned from the post. He vowed to put an end to such scams.
All nine panch members were present for the meeting to elect the sarpanch.
“Local MLA Ganesh Gaonkar has promised to cooperate with all the development projects in the village. The scam, which I exposed, took place a decade ago. I assure locals that there will be no such scams in the panchayat during my tenure,” assured Bandekar.
Meanwhile, this is Bandekar’s fourth term as sarpanch and that too elected unopposed.
