MARGAO: With the aim of eliminating manual scavenging, the State government has introduced an advanced robot named “Bandicoot” to clean and maintain the manholes of sewerage drainage safely without workers entering inside it.
This technology that was donated to the State government from the ONGC foundation as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative was launched at the Navelim Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) and will be used for the sewerage network connected to this STP.
PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral inaugurated the same along with Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, Sanjeev Singhal, head of IPSHEM ONGC Goa; Joaquim Fernandes, Executive Engineer, PWD and Rashid K, director of Genrobotics Innovations.
