PONDA: The Bandora locals on Friday strongly opposed the proposed car racing scheduled on 27 November 27, at the Goa Engineering College (GEC) ground stating that it is the only ground for local youth in Bandora, Priol and Ponda youth and if mud is dumped here then it would destroy the playground and take years to restore it.
The local youths also urged the GEC principal not to grant permission for any car racing event here.
Urvesh Redkar said locals are dependent on this ground for various activities. “We never opposed the hosting of good events here but now we have learnt from about the proposed car racing which will definitely destroy our ground. This is not the suitable place for such a race and said that Mapusa like incident should not be repeated here,” said Redkar.
