PONDA: Bandora residents have demanded that the government and National Highways Authority of India to improve and reduce the size of the accident-prone GVM Circle at Farmagudi.
Bandora panch Rajesh Naik said, “The GVM Circle is an accident-prone zone and to prevent accidents, the size of this circle should be reduced. Since the past many years we have witnessed several accidents including fatal ones at the spot. The heavy vehicles proceeding from Panjim to Margao find difficulty in negotiating the circle due to sharp turn along the slope and often lose control and fall on their side.”
He said like Borim, Bandora villagers too want the size of the dangerous circle reduced.
According to locals, the circle design is faulty and often confusion prevails on account of several roads as some heavy vehicles mistakenly take the KTC bus stand road.
It may be recalled that recently Borim villagers had demanded that the size of the two Borim circles be reduced following the death of three electricity linesmen in truck accident. The Borim Panchayat had passed a resolution to reduce the size of both the circles.
