VASCO: The Directorate of Panchayat has initiated an inquiry against the Bandora panchayat staff after a video of them missing during duty hours went viral on social media.
A video showing vacant seats in the office of Bandora Panchayat during working hours had gone viral in social media on Thursday. In the video it was highlighted that though the people had come to the panchayat for their works, no staff was present on duty and the only thing functioning in the office was fans and tube lights. It was also seen that the person who shot the video was demanding that the panchayat minister should act against such erring panchayat staff.
“Yes we have taken cognizance of the viral video. Already instructions have been issued to Director of Panchayat to inquire into the matter and submit his report to me. After we get the report, we will be initiating action and to see that such things do not happen in other panchayats. There will be strict monitoring of timings in the gram panchayat working hours,” Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho told reporters in Vasco on Friday.
