PONDA: Claiming that the current government is not of the masses, villagers from Bandora-Ponda have urged people to vote cautiously at the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a religious function at Farmagudi-Ponda, the residents claimed that the government has failed to act on various complaints against the comunidade land grab at Farmagudi. They said even after High Court issued stay orders, plots were developed.
Villagers alleged that over 80,000 sq mtrs of comunidade land opposite the holy place has been transferred to a private party and plots have already been developed. Villagers further claimed that the land once developed will destroy the sanctity of the holy place.
“People had high hopes from the current government, but to our surprise, the government has failed to take action on various complaints regarding the comunidade land,” stated Govind Gaude of Bandora.
“The comunidade land at Farmagudi which is about 80,000 sq mtrs is grazing land and we feel action has not been taken as politicians are themselves involved in the land grab,” alleged Gaude.
“The current government cannot give justice to the people and I will appeal to the people of the State to vote cautiously during the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls,” added Gaude.
Added another villager, Dinesh Gaunekar, “Government is least bothered to take action against the illegality. We will tackle this legally and are even ready to fight till our last breath.”
The villagers have claimed that  the concerned authorities are not willing to take action as there are political bigwigs involved inthe comunidade land grab at Farmagudi.
