PONDA: The Bandora gram sabha on Sunday demanded that Kashimat football ground, which is in possession with the PWD be returned to the village panchayat so that they can enjoy the facilities.
The villagers pointed out that this ground belongs to the village panchayat. They informed Sarpanch Rajesh Naik, who chaired the gram sabha that they used to play football, cricket and various other games. However, they said, some years back the PWD constructed a protection wall around the ground which houses its office and since then the ground is in possession of the PWD.
“When we need to use this ground for our children to play or to arrange some activities we have to go through lot of formalities for obtaining permission from the PWD, which takes lot of time. So we want the panchayat to retake the possession of the ground in order to avoid all the formalities and use the ground whenever we want,” the villagers requested the sarpanch.
However, Sarpanch Rajesh told the GS that the village panchayat is not financially viable to maintain the ground but confirmed that the people’s resolution will be noted down and discussed with the Chief Engineer of PWD and also with the CM.
Bandora villagers also demanded that panchayat take legal action against one building owned by Sanatan Sanstha at Ramnathi. They claimed that it is constructed below 33 kv high tension lines passing through the area and said that a report submitted by the Electricity Department has termed the building as ‘illegal’.
The villagers also passed a resolution for a reassessment of house tax.
