MAPUSA: A girl in Bardez was raped by her neighbour on March 19, between 12 midnight & 4 am.
According to a complaint filed at Mapusa police station, the victim’s neighbour trespassed into her house, raped her and threatened to cause her sever harm if she disclosed the crime to anyone.
Feeling ashamed and fearing harm by the culprit, she went to a railway station to commit suicide. However, as she was waiting at the railway station, she had a change of heart and reported the crime to the Mapusa police.
Mapusa police have registered an offence under Section 376 of IPC for rape. The accused is absconding.
