NUVEM: Nuvem Sarpanch Camilo Alvares had to deal with a barrage of questions and concerns on land-filling and road works in progress for the Eastern Bypass.
When completed, the Eastern Bypass would connect Panjim with Canacona without entering Margao.
But at Nuvem a large number of water bodies and fields have been filled up for constructing the eastern bypass, which splits Nuvem into two.
Jose Roque Andrade, a villager, said that the new highway is raised to a height of almost five meters, hence, the old pipes need to be replaced with culverts and road underpasses need to be built for easy movement of people between the split parts of the village.
Claiming that the highway would become accident prone, Wilson Andrade and Maoul Costa suggested construction of a flyover between Majorda and Nuvem so that people would not have to cross the highway.
The villagers demanded a copy of the EIA report for their perusal.
