PANJIM: The Batim villagers have opposed the Greater Panjim Planning and Development Authority (GPPDA) while scheduling a mega meeting on March 7 to decide further course of action.
Hundreds of villagers including Sarpanch Francisco D’Souza gathered on Sunday morning to attend a meeting near a Chapel to discuss the pros and cons of PDA. The meeting saw people opposing PDA alleging it is formed with selfish motive to create concrete jungle and destroy environment amongst other crucial needs of the people.
Maradon Pilley, a villager, told Herald that the villagers have decided not to support GPPDA. “We will hold another meeting on March 7 at the panchayat hall where we will discuss this matter at length. We will also decide about submitting a memorandum to the government and others if any action to be taken thereafter,” he said.
Earlier, Curca, Sridao-Palem, St Cruz, Merces, Chimbel and Bambolim villagers opposed the GPPDA.
