Addressing media persons, Faleiro refused to comment on the growing dissent within the party and the anti-party voices. “MLAs fall in the domain of CLP headed by Pratapsingh Rane. If you have anything to ask about MLAs please speak to Rane,” he said, and poking fun of his own legislative wing he added, “How many MLAs are we left with?”
“However, the party high command is clear that non-disciplined leaders will have to follow discipline and will have to perform or perish,” the former chief minister said referring to the Party’s Co-ordination Committee members meeting with All India Congress Committee (AICC) Vice-President Rahul Gandhi.
Asked about the MLAs, who remained absent from the meeting, Faleiro replied, “Please ask the reason with Rane and not me. During our meeting in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi has given a clear message that the party needs to be united and work together to come to power in the 2017 Assembly elections,” he said.
Speaking on the alliance, Faleiro said, “There was no discussion on alliance in the Delhi meeting. Rahul Gandhi has requested all the senior leaders to work hard in the ensuing Assembly elections and not only concentrate in their respective constituencies but in all 40 seats as per the aspirations of the people,” he stated. “For us the coming elections are very important and crucial,” he added.
Asked about the delay in finalising candidates, Faleiro said that by this weekend, the district committees will submit their desired candidate’s names and the same will be scrutinized by the Pradesh committee and sent to the High Command. “Has BJP or MGP or NCP announced their candidates? AAP is a passing show,” he defended.
