PERNEM: Though the Department of Tourism has limited the number of beach beds and dining furniture on the beaches, shack owners and restaurant operators continue to illegally set up their tables and chairs on the beaches of Pernem’s coastal belt, some brazenly close to the waterline, especially Arambol and Mandrem beaches. Even as the Tourism Department has initiated several enforcement drives and even confiscated beach furniture from the errant shacks, the menace continues, leaving no space for visitors to walk freely on the beach.
Meanwhile, a few foreign nationals were seen performing fire dances and busking on Arambol beach, attracting a huge number of tourists.
