MAPUSA: India’s first beach festival on Candolim beach for differently-abled organized by UMOJA was inaugurated by Deputy Speaker & MLA of Calangute Michael Lobo.
UMOJA has organized this event in association with Hemendra Kothari foundation, HSBC, Janak Dwarakadas, Vivanta by Taj, Goa Tourism, Drag, Dhrishti Life Saving and Silver Sands Goa for the differently-abled people with ramp from parking to the beach, floating wheel chair, games, music and stalls.
At the festival, the differently-abled participants will be provided with wooden ramp up to the beach, friendly toilets, changing rooms, shower rooms with bacterial plant and garbage segregation area along with reserved for differently-abled parking facility for cars and two wheelers. Wheel chairs will be also provided with helpers to move from the parking area to the beach. The same kind of tourism spot will be created on the beaches of Calangute, Baga, near Tito’s and Sinquerim.
On the occasion, Lobo said that tourism spots with all kinds of facilities would be made available on the coastal belt of Calangute and would be ready by October 2017 and that the tourism spot at Candolim would be ready in the next two months.
The five-day festival will conclude on April 9.
