BELGAUM: After seeking interstate police cooperation in cracking down on the liquor and drug nexus, the Belgaum police is now seeking the assistance of Goa Police in an interstate burglary racket with suspected links to Goa.

The decision was arrived after one such burglary took place in a jewellery shop, where a 14-year-old girl was caught stealing jewellery on a CCTV camera.

SP Sandeep Patil, suspects the involvement of an interstate gang of burglars, who are now using children in crimes and immediately after the burglary, flee either to Goa or Maharashtra.

In an attempt to identify the possible interstate nexus, police has planned to dispatch CDs of CCTV footage to police stations in Goa and Maharashtra.

“We are in touch with Maharashtra and Goa police in this regard,” SP Patil told Herald.
