MARGAO: Colva police have booked two Benaulim residents for organizing a bullfight at Pedda, Benaulim on January 15.
According to police, the accused Cassidy Fernandes, owner of a buffalo ‘Satya’, and Joaquim Fernandes, owner of a buffalo ‘Bangle’, organised a bullfight for the entertainment of the public, thereby subjecting their animals to cruelty.
Colva police have booked the accused under Section 11(m) (n) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act. Further investigation is in progress.
It may be recalled that Colva police had come under criticism from activists recently over the issue of bullfights.
