MARGAO: The Odlem Bhat and Acsona wards of Benaulim village have been facing severe water short thereby dampening the festive spirit of the villagers during the Christmas season.
Locals said, “The water shortage is a regular feature every festive season. When complaints are made to the authorities, the response from the officials was to install overhead tanks.”
They said that the water shortage problem has been affecting the people of Benaulim during the festive season regularly. They demanded necessary action in the matter as the village is excessively overburdened in tourist season and the problems are only going to increase in the near future.
Venzy Viegas said, “The need of the hour is to make Benaulim Constituency self-sustainable with basic necessities delivered with consistency and efficiently.
“Lack of vision and prioritisation of the development in the village were leading to such suffering,” he said.
