Villagers drew attention of the BDO that the gram sabha members never pressurized or forced the deputy Sarpanch Stanley Fernandes to quit office. They pointed out that the villagers are not interested in the resignation of anyone, adding that there was no instance of the gram sabha members forcing the deputy Sarpanch to tender his resignation from the post.
Geraldine Fernandes told the BDO that the villagers are very much upset with the conduct of the deputy Sarpanch, when gram sabha members had never asked the resignation of the deputy Sarpanch.
They asked the BDO to look into the functioning of the Benaulim panchayat, especially the work carried out vis-à-vis garbage disposal and desilting of drains.
BDO Prabhudesai, when contacted said the villagers has claimed that the Panchayat has not yet identified any site for the disposal of garbage generated in the village.
He, however, said that as per the records of the Panchayat, the Benaulim panchayat had identified a site, but the same did not find favour with the Goa State Pollution Control Board.
