PONDA: After the sarpanch of village panchayat Kirlapal, who exposed the scam of issuance of bogus house tax receipts, resigned due to political pressure, it has come to light that the beneficiaries of the Atal Asra Yojana will face problems in availing the benefits of the scheme, due to bogus receipts issued to them. This has enraged the locals no end.
Kirlapal sarpanch Damodar Bandekar was the whistleblower behind the bogus receipts issued by panchayat personnel. While completing the necessary procedure for the Atal Asra scheme, people had also presented their house tax receipts. After the concerned department requested the beneficiaries to submit latest house tax receipts, they realised that their house numbers are not registered with the panchayat. People, who spent money, hours and sweat to complete the procedure are understandably agitated.
Meanwhile, the panchayat secretary and the clerk involved in this corruption have been transferred.
