Beneficiaries of Griha Aadhar advised to change bank

The Directorate of Women and Child Development advised this move after account holders of Mapusa Urban were unable to access their funds

PANJIM: As account holders of Mapusa Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd continue to face a problem over the withdrawal of money, the Directorate of Women and Child Development has asked beneficiaries of Griha Aadhar – having account in the Mapusa bank – to change their banks.
“As per the RBI decision, Mapusa Urban Co-oprative Bank Ltd are not accepting the Griha Aadhar Scheme monthly payment, which results in rejection of monthly payment credited to beneficiaries account in the Bank. All Griha Aadhar beneficiaries having their account in Mapusa Urban Co-oprative Bank Ltd will have to opt for any other bank and submit their bank details to GEL for updating the same, immediately without any further delay,” the directorate stated in a notice to the general public.
Last month, the Social Welfare Department granted similar relief to Dayanand Social Security (DSS) beneficiaries having their account at Mapusa Urban Cooperative Bank Ltd after issues over cash withdrawal, by allowing changing their bank.
The outgoing director of the bank Ramakant Khalap , had told Herald that RBI’s restrictions has forced such a situation. “We have been telling the RBI to take proper steps and relax some restrictions on the Co-operation. The RBI has imposed section 25 A of the Banking Regulations Act three years back.
