MARGAO: Betalbatim Farmers Association, which is a farmers club, was launched. The club will be a facilitator for bringing in the various schemes that the government has to offer for agriculture and allied activities.
Zilla Parishad Nelly Rodrigues, Betalbatim sarpanch Constancio Miranda, ZAO Sheriff Furtado among others were present. Farmers who have done exemplary work in their fields were felicitated.
Nelly said the government should bring simplicity in the registration of self help groups involved in the agriculture and farming works as several have given up their works due to the cumbersome procedures.
Miranda said that the panchayat has been helping the farmers with procurement of manures and fertilisers and assured to help. Furtado said the club will help the farmers in availing the schemes and facilities.
