Bethora locals want p’yat to stop work on garbage treatment plant immediately

PONDA: Around 100 Bethora villagers on Tuesday marched to the Bethora-Nirankal-Konshem- Kodar Panchayat office demanding that the ongoing work of constructing the wet garbage treatment plant at Vaidya Nagar, Bethora be stopped immediately.

The locals discussed the issue with sarpanch Madu Khandeparkar, who assured them that he would take up the issue with the panchayat and would take a decision thereafter. The villagers returned following the assurance given by the sarpanch.

However, the locals warned that if the work on the project is not stopped immediately then they will decide on the future course of action and take steps to stop the same.

It may be recalled that the panchayat started work on the garbage treatment plant. So far 80 percent of the work stands complete.  In November, around 110 villagers had signed a memorandum demanding that the work on the plant be stopped immediately, however with the panchayat neglecting their demand, the villagers on Tuesday marched to the panchayat office.
