PANJIM: Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) Chairman and Curtorim MLA Alex Reginaldo Lourenco on Monday said that the Verna and Latambarsem industrial estates will be provide better infrastructure under the ‘Gati Shakti’ scheme.
Speaking to reporters after chairing the second GIDC Board meeting, Lourenco said that under the Centre’s ‘Gati Shakti’ scheme various infrastructure works such as roads, power and raw water will be made available to industries in these industrial estates.
He said that the GIDC had allotted land to the Electricity Department at Verna to construct a sub-station to improve power supply while a parallel pipeline would also be laid to provide raw water. Also land has been given to Directorate of Transport at Verna to establish an automated testing station, to issue fitness certificates.
Lourenco said that plots will be allotted to interested entrepreneurs through e-tender-cum-e-auction and in a transparent manner.
He added that so far 15 plots were allotted to successful bidders of which five bidders were also granted construction licences.
“The GIDC has decided to auction five lakh square metres of land which was taken back from the SEZ developers,” he said adding that bids (in Round 3) have been invited to auction 37 plots at Verna.
Lourenco said that the coal block which was allotted to the GIDC at Dongri Tal in Madhya Pradesh has now been taken back. However, the DIDC has received another proposal for trading coal and the Corporation will place it before the government for appropriate decision.
