PORVORIM: While renovating and restoring the existing forts which are listed in the Archives and Archaeology Department, one more fort of Betul will be added soon to the list, minister informed on the floor of the house.
Minister Dayanand Mandrekar informed that conservation committee of the department has inspected the site and also prepared the report to declare it as a protected monument. The file is sent it to the Law Department and simultaneously PWD has been asked to prepare the estimate for the restoration and renovation of the fort.
The minister has said that department has done very good work despite of very low budget, we have 51 monuments in the state, he added. The minister said that direction sign boards will be installed at all the protected monuments in the state.
Mandrekar informed the house that Chapora and Halarna fort renovation and restoration will be retendered as last time only one bidder has turned out for bidding. The estimate of the Alorna fort is already prepared whereas the estimate of Chapora will be prepared soon, he informed.
He said that with successful renovation of the Reis Magos Fort the government has already inaugurated it on June 18 this year.
