MARGAO: The local Muslim community of Betul came together and demanded State Government intervenes and resolves the problems surrounding the dargah located in Pir Betul, which is close since May 12.
The locals of Betul have appealed to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to personally intervene in the matter given that the issue of the dargah has not been solved for over a month despite the Collector’s instructions.
On behalf of the locals, the Sunni Jamiya Masjid Committee Pirvadda Betul explained that the Dharga has been closed after a dispute with another local group that has claimed the right to manage the Dharga.
However, the committee members alleged that not only were the locals not allowed to hold a religious programme at the dargah, but the other group has also harassed women.
