Bhagat refuses free legal aid

MARGAO: Refusing free legal aid, Vikat Bhagat, accused of killing the Irish national Danielle Mclaughlin on Monday told the court that he would engage the services of his lawyer.

MARGAO: Refusing free legal aid, Vikat Bhagat, accused of killing the Irish national Danielle Mclaughlin on Monday told the court that he would engage the services of his lawyer. 
When Bhagat was produced for hearing before Additional Sessions Judge Saynora Teles Laad, the accused was asked if he needed free legal aid as he was not represented by any lawyer.
Meanwhile, Public Prosecutor V G Costa moved an application seeking speedy hearing of the case on a day-to-day basis. The application has been served on Vikat and is now posted for reply on July 21.
