PONDA: President of the Ponda Taluka Gomantak Bhandari Samaj Vishwanath Naik said some persons have defamed Ashok Naik, the central president of the samaj, accusing him of issuing bogus caste certificates to migrants.
Addressing media persons along with vice president Dadi Naik, Dilip Naik and Hemanth Naik, Vishwanath said one Atish Mandrekar and others have defamed Ashok Naik alleging that he has issued bogus Bhandari Samaj caste certificates to migrants.
Vishwanath dared Atish and others to submit evidence with regards to the bogus certificates and alleged that some people with vested interest are maligning the Samaj. He said these certificates are issued by the local taluka committees. After local Bhandari gram sabha committees of the villages verify the application forms, the caste certificates of Bhandari Samaj are issued.
