MARGAO: Ravindra Bhavan, Margao to commemorate the birth centenary of noted multi-faceted Marathi artiste late P L Deshpande, will be hosting a musical programme titled “Aparichit Pu.La” on August 10, at the conference hall, at 5.30 pm.
Well-known as a humorist writer, he also wrote in other genres besides being a respected film and stage actor, scriptwriter, author, composer, harmonium player, singer and orator. Shabdvedh from Pune has produced “Aparichit Pu. La”, which is based on Deshpande’s lesser known and read literature including his poems while steering clear from more popular works such as “Batatyachi Chal”.
Written and directed by Chandrakant Kale, the show will have very prominent Marathi artistes acting, which is free for the audience. As part of Prayog Saanj, a monthly theatre activities initiative, Ravindra Bhavan will be staging “Lights Out”, an English play directed by Dnyanesh Moghe, on August 9, in the conference hall, at 7 pm.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Bhavan will also be organising a workshop on “ghumat” playing from August 16 to 26, from 3 pm to 5.30 pm, wherein well-known “ghumat” players will guide the participants.
The workshop is open for only 70 participants and preference will be given to those who have not attended any earlier workshops. The workshop is for aged 10 and above and those interested should collect the application forms from the office and submit the same before August 12.
