PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral, while giving a presentation on
Monday on the Bhoma road widening issue, clarified that no houses or temples in
Survey No. 6 will be demolished. He asserted that only four houses would be
demolished in the process.
Minister further said that most demanded bypass is not
possible in Bhoma therefore Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had dropped
it. Bhoma villagers have been opposing the highway expansion stating that
several houses and temples will be demolished for the project. To clarify this
Minister gave a presentation wherein he refuted the claims of the villagers and
other supporters of the protestors.
Minister using a drone footage claimed that only four houses
and 17 kiosks will be demolished for the expansion of the highway at Bhoma. No
temple will be affected, as claimed by the villagers, Cabral asserted. He
further added that the four houses will be allotted 300 square metre land each.
Cabral pointed out that several encroachments that have come up on the land
acquired for National Highway way back in 1991-92. The same will be demolished,
and the Government will construction cubical structure and allot it each one of
them.
On being questioned about 64 notices issued by the MoRTH to
villagers, he said that part of survey no 6 is being acquired and as the survey
number has not been partitioned all the houses in the survey number have been
served notices. He also added that the Union Ministry of Road Transport and
Highway has sanctioned Rs. 575 Crore for 4-laning work from Ponda to Bhoma.
