PANJIM: The residents of Bhoma and Corlim villages on Tuesday protested outside the PWD office at Altinho, Panjim against the highway widening in their villages.
Referring to the government’s plans to expand the national highway from Patradevi to Mollem, villager Sanjay Naik said that if the road is widened, it will ruin the heritage temples, shops and houses situated on both sides of the road. He demanded that the government should protect the village by constructing a bypass.
Another villager Rajan Naik said that the villagers have always been suffering due to pollution caused by industries situated in the nearby two industrial estates and appealed to the government not to allow road widening and divide the village further into two parts.
